Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney will see his first season in Nashville come to a premature end after just eight games.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Clowney, who was on Injured Reserve with a knee injury, had successful surgery and is now out for the season.

Clowney’s surgery took place on Wednesday and it was to repair his left meniscus, but he’s expected to be fully healthy by March. This is not the same knee Clowney had microfracture surgery on years ago, though.

The former No. 1 overall pick signed a one-year, $12.7 million deal with the Titans back in September, which means his time in Nashville could be over after he hits the free-agent market again in 2021.

Rapoport does note in his report that the Titans haven’t ruled out a return for the 27-year-old, but it will depend on his market. It’s conceivable the Titans could bring him back for a reasonable price after his latest knee issue.

Clowney

Clowney played in eight games and recorded 19 combined tackles (14 solo, four for loss), six QB hits, four passes defensed, one forced fumble, but zero sacks.
